A world of knowledge awaits

Van Schaik Bookstore is South Africa’s leading supplier of academic textbooks and study material. Whether you are looking for tertiary study material, study guides or even school textbooks, it is all within reach at your nearest store or our online store, www.vanschaik.com. We also stock all the stationery you need, general books, magazines, lifestyle items and electronics such as laptops, printers, headphones and more.

We provide a number of payment methods, one of which is our Incidental Credit Agreement, with which we issue students a Van Schaik Bookstore Store Card. This provides parents with the peace of mind of knowing that students can go to any of our stores countrywide and purchase books when they are far from home, as we understand that students and parents (Payees) are not always on campus together.

What does Incidental Credit Agreement mean?

Our Terms are 30 days nett, should the account be unpaid, we reserve the right to hand over to a Collection Agency. The Collection Agency will add their own charges and interest to the unpaid amount.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below are a couple of answers to some of the questions we get asked frequently. Please feel free to contact us, should you need more info.

What is Incidental Credit mean?

We only offer Incidental Credit Agreements as we are not a Registered Credit Provider. We do not charge interest on overdue amounts. An incidental credit agreement is an agreement, irrespective of its form, in terms of which an account was tendered for goods or services that have been provided to the consumer, or goods or services that are to be provided to a consumer over a period of time. A fee, charge or interest becomes payable, when payment of an amount charged to that account was not made on or before a determined period or date.

What are our payment terms?

The full amount for current purchases is due 30 Days from the Date of Statement.

What must we bring with when collecting the store card?

Original Proof of Identity

Who can collect the store card?

Parent can collect the card with his or her original proof of identity. Alternatively, where a student attends a study institution in another province or country, he/she may collect the card. (Only if special arrangements have been made with the parent.)

May we open a second account for an additional student?

We can open a second student account to assist parents who have more than one student studying. Customers can choose if they want one statement that reflects both student purchases, or if they prefer a statement per student. Apply in store or email debtors@vanschaik.com with your request.

Can I use my card for online purchases at www.vanschaik.com?
